Where to Take Your Date in Solana Beach

If you’re seeking out the perfect date spot to take your significant other, most recent match on a dating app, or group of besties, look no further than Solana Beach. Located in Northern San Diego between Del Mar and Encinitas, Solana is truly the most charming, seaside community. With everything from the beach, eclectic shops, great dining, golfing, and nearby hiking, there really is something here for everyone. If you don't know where to start, we went ahead and put together a list of where to go to impress your date.

  1. Fletchers Cove. Depending on what time you arrive in Solana, Fletchers Cove is simply the best location for a picnic or sunset or sunset picnic. The seaside bluffs, greenery, and occasional dolphin sighting all add to the pristine beauty of Fletchers. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

  2. Happy Hour or midday pick-me-up. Located on Cedros Ave., and conveniently directly across from each other are Carruth Cellars and Culture Brewing Co. If you lean more towards beer, Culture offers great IPAs and fun seasonal flavors (like sweet potato and marshmallow during the holiday season). If you’re more of a wine connoisseur, Carruth is an urban winery that sources fruit from all over the West Coast but makes its wine by the beach. Definitely check the event calendars before because both of these spots host unbeatable events (yoga, food trucks, live music).

3. Casual or not-so-casual dining. Solana Beach is a foodie’s heaven, from small family-owned cafes to top-notch steakhouses, farm-to-table Southwestern restaurants to “mom & pop” fish houses.

4. Catch a show. Belly Up Tavern has been a local favorite since 1974 and has hosted some of the most legendary artists including The Killers, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimmy Buffet, Willie Nelson, Ben Harper, and, perhaps most famously, the Rolling Stones. If you’re looking for something other than a concert, the North Coast Repertory Theatre offers original productions as well as classic performances.

5. Last, but not least. You can’t end a date without dessert, even if it was a terrible date. Homestead on Cedros Ave. has great flavors of gelato including salted caramel, cookies&cream, and more. Another fan favorite is Solana Sumptuous Cookies which hosts “the best cookies in the universe”.
